Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
At Courthouse Green children learn a modern foreign language in Years 4-6. Language competence and intercultural understanding help children to become good citizens, as well as develop a greater understanding of their own lives. Our MFL curriculum is centred around a scheme of work taught by Specialist teachers. Y4 and Y5 are taught Spanish from the Spring term and then Y6 will be taught Spanish in the Summer Term. They learn through games, sing-alongs, stories and activities to help children get to grips with the language — and have plenty of fun while they’re at it. Children learn basic greetings and gain an understanding of the numbers 1-10 so they can use them in a context.
