Reading Buddies

Our Reading buddies are the Year 6s who promote the love of reading across school, by reading books with younger children each day. Some of these Year 6s will also practice speed sounds with Reception and Year 1. This develops a greater sense of belonging across the school, whilst also developing children’s fluency in reading and enjoyment of reading.

Another key role of a Reading Buddy is to support with running the library. At Courthouse Green we have a library full of exciting, well known books for reading for enjoyment and to help with researching current themes and subjects. It is a welcoming environment for all children, and staff and Reading Buddies are on hand to encourage a love of reading.
