Geography

🌍 G E O G R A P H Y 🗺️

At the heart of our geography curriculum is the goal of helping children build a deep and lasting understanding of the world around them. From EYFS Key  through to Key Stage 2, we provide opportunities for pupils to:

  • Develop greater confidence and fluency in world knowledge by exploring a wide range of places, people, and environments.

  • Move from the familiar to the unfamiliar — from concrete experiences to more abstract ideas — encouraging curiosity and critical thinking.

  • Organise and connect what they learn, so they can better understand patterns, changes, and the links between people and places.

  • Work with more complex information, including the influence of attitudes, values, and beliefs on different environments and communities.

  • Strengthen their geographical enquiry skills by observing, collecting, analysing, and presenting information independently and thoughtfully.

Children also take part in meaningful enquiry projects that explore human impact on the world, encouraging them to reflect on global issues and compare British Values with those in other cultures. This supports their development as informed, respectful global citizens.

Throughout all year groups, our curriculum is carefully designed to build:

  • A strong foundation of world knowledge — locations, features, and places.

  • An understanding of the natural and human processes that shape our world.

  • The skills to investigate geography with curiosity, accuracy, and confidence.
