We aim to give children a strong understanding of the world around them by helping them think scientifically and learn about how science works and why it matters today and in the future.
Children are taught science through exciting, hands-on experiences where they develop important skills like observing, questioning, investigating, and problem-solving. These skills are built upon year after year, with key topics (like plants) revisited in more depth as children move through the school.
The science curriculum encourages children to:
-
Ask questions and explore possible answers.
-
Use and understand scientific vocabulary.
-
Build knowledge over time through practical investigations and discovery-based learning.
Science is taught in themed blocks each half-term or term and is supported by engaging activities from the Discovery Science programme and Explorify.
