Chat, play, read is a monthly event held in school to promote a love of reading and to support the home learning environment.
Parents/Carers attending the session get the chance to see a high quality story delivered by a teacher and how the book is used skilfully to develop vocabulary, phonological awareness and encourage talk.
Children then take part in an interactive activity with their adult where the main focusses are on collaboration and talk. Each child takes home a copy of the story from the session with suggested activities to try to encourage effective home learning environments and home/school relationships.
